The last time I was in Puerto Galera in Mindoro was years ago — even way before I got married. So that long ago. I don’t remember what the name of the particular beach was but it was lined with several small resorts, located right beside each other.

We were there as a group so we stayed in a reasonably-priced place (read: CHEAP). We cooked our own food sometimes or ate at the small eateries nearby. I don’t remember the beach being particularly awesome — although I do recall that the water was clear and clean and the sunsets beautiful. In recent years, some news articles trumpet Puerto Galera as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

One of the resorts located at Sabang Beach in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro is Atlantis Resort. To get there, it will take you about 4 to 5 hours where you will have to take a trip by land and then a ferry or a banca from Batangas. The boat ride in itself is quite an experience — as it is quite breezy and as you see yourself going in between big rocks or were those islands?

Atlantis Resort positions itself as a boutique hotel and a place for scuba diving. It says that it has more than 30 dive sites within 10 minutes travel from the resort. While there, you can also enjoy the beach, the pool, play golf, go on a sunset cruise, or try trekking. There are several available rooms from deluxe rooms to executive suites.
